It was announced a year ago that this would be the last Sakura Gakuin “Nendo” (school year). Now, the final Sakura Gakuin show has taken place, and after a Live Viewing which will take place on Tuesday, August 31st, the group will cease all activities.

BABYMETAL started out as a sub-group of Sakura Gakuin, with all 3 members (Suzuka, Yui, and Moa) coming from the existing Sakura Gakuin members at the time. A few years later they split off and became the band they are known as today. Yui and Moa did remain Sakura Gakuin members for a few more years, however.

Sakura Gakuin has remained an important part of the lives of the BABYMETAL members who participated in the project. They have appeared a few times over the years. They also made some comments on this year’s 10th Anniversary Memorial Book, so it’s no surprise that they have left some short comments for the last show of the group, which you can read translated below.

Also of note, according to some fans, former Sakura Gakuin member Mariri Sugimoto mentioned on a live stream that Suzuka was in attendance of the show. I couldn’t corroborate this myself, but it would not be surprising at all to hear that she, and the others, attended, even if not appearing in pictures with other members or onstage.

The names of all 36 graduates were on the confetti that fell during the show.
