This article was updated live during the show. Here is the original article.

The biggest musical show of the year in Japan is finally here! BABYMETAL performed Ijime, Dame, Zettai, participating for the “Red Team” (woman’s team). they also later collaborated with X Japan’s Yoshiki on “ENDLESS RAIN”. This was along with Brian May, Roger Taylor, and Sarah Brightman, who participated from their respective countries remotely, and milet, LiSA, and Sixtones, who along with BABYMETAL, performed at NHK Hall. Finally SU-METAL and MOAMETAL appeared at the end with all the artists for the results and final New Year’s Eve Song.

Sadly Ijime, Dame, Zettai was a short 2:45 minute version, but that is the amount of time they were allotted to play, and it still went great. On ENDLESS RAIN even Moa picked up a microphone and sang along with the other artists. The girls showed they were very happy to have won at the end.

This whole event was monumental for BABYMETAL. This program is the largest musical event of the year in Japan, so it’s a lot of exposure, but it’s also very honorable as it carries a large legacy behind it. KOBAMETAL himself must have been extremely happy as X Japan and Yoshiki have been one of his greatest inspirations for BABYMETAL, which can be clearly seen in the dozens of homages made in their honor, such as: the Headbanger!! neckbrace (used by Yoshiki because he actually had problems from drumming too much), “No Rain, No Rainbow” is an inspiration from “ENDLESS RAIN”, just like “Akatsuki” is for “Kurenai”, and many many more.

On Tuesday 29th and Wednesday 30th they held the rehearsals. Sadly due to the pandemic, they weren’t open to the press to conduct interviews.

Announcement post, where I also added more updated information, interviews, and footage of BABYMETAL at the press event and red carpet.
