The tour with BABYMETAL coming up, looks like it’s going to be awesome:
Johannes: “Yeah! It’s going to be special. It’s different. I see it as first and foremost a great opportunity to hopefully [grow]. I feel like they probably skew slightly younger than we do overall. We always want to get the opportunity to show ourselves to [non-fans]. We don’t think in terms of demographics when we do what we do aside from ourselves, so that’s why we want to try to play a bit for everyone. With BABYMETAL, I see we’re going to capture a bit of a younger audience, and also men with greasy hair and trenchcoats.
I’d be in the 2nd group [laughs]
Johannes: [laughs] So, we’re going to get a lot of those. I think they’re really cool. I think it’s one of those things when I hit the scene where, because they are what they are, you know? Like, how they were formed and stuff, it’s not your typical Scandanavian death metal backstory, you know? At the same time the first song that I saw was Gimme Chocolate!!, right? The one that went viral first. I first went: “Yeah! but no… Actually, yeah, why not? Yeah, fuck it, yeah.”
It’s right and wrong in so many ways at the same time.
Johannes: Yeah, but it’s a great show, and we saw them live on a festival in the United States at some point somewhere.
And they played here too, they played in Columbus before.
Johannes: I don’t think it was here, but it was probably that year. And we were there, and you can say what you want, but I was blown away. I’ve seen a lot of bands, I’ve been to a lot of shows, bands of different sizes, and seeing so many amazing things in multiple genres and so it took a bit to impress me and I was blown away. The musicianship, the showmanship that is going on there. It’s delightful when something is different. I enjoyed a lot. It’s going to be fun. I like the opportunity of doing something different. We’re going to be who we are. It’s just interesting to put us into different contexts.
I look forward to seeing it.
A bit is from Blabbermouth (added the things that were missing)
