Riho Sayashi was born on May 28th, 1998 in Hiroshima prefecture. She is most well known for being an idol under Hello! Project as a 9th generation member of Morning Musume and the SATOYAMA movement duo Peaberry. And more recently, Riho became one of the 3 BABYMETAL Avengers.

Though she has not performed since Cologne, Germany on February 13th as part of BABYMETAL’s European tour, where Momoko took over for the rest of the tour and has performed at every show since. Since then she has joined a new agency, and it appears that she is no longer a part of team BABYMETAL.

She announced just a few days ago that she will be holding a Fan-club only live streaming event “Siri-kai vol. 6” at 7 PM (Japan time).

Biography

She was enrolled in Actor’s School Hiroshima (ASH) in 2004, where she would first meet and perform with Suzuka.

For those unaware, Hello! Project is the “umbrella name” for the all-female idol Japanese pop recording artists that are under contract with UP-FRONT GROUP Co., Ltd. and managed by UP-FRONT PROMOTION. Morning Musume is the lead idol group of Hello! Project, and one of Japan’s most successful all-girl groups.

She was the most popular member out of Morning Musume’s 2011 additions. Starting with “Only you“, her second single as a member, she was pushed into becoming one of the group’s central figures as a main vocalist and dancer, which led to her being named the group’s “absolute ace” by media.

The SATOYAMA & SATOUMI movement has the goal of helping preserve satoyama areas (area between mountain foothills and arable flat land) and satoumi areas (coastal landscapes that have been formed and maintained by prolonged interaction between humans and ecosystems), as well as make one think about the life and culture of those areas.

Peaberry was one of the founding groups for the movement (at the time called simply SATOYAMA movement), and considered its main unit. You can find more information here.

She graduated from Morning Musume at the end of 2015 and took a break from Hello! Project activities to “study abroad and learn more English and dance.” At the end of November 2018 her contract with UP-FRONT PROMOTION expired and she had subsequently graduated from Hello! Project. After a 3 year hiatus, she re-appeared to the public at Hello! Project 20th Anniversary!! Hello! Project Hina Fes 2019 on March 30.

Since then, of course, most reading this will know she became an Avenger and started touring with BABYMETAL. Her first show was the first show of 2019 (and the announcement of the Avengers) in late June at THE SUN ALSO RISES in Yokohama Arena. Since then she has performed at several other shows in Japan, as well as the US and Europe. She has performed a total of 27 shows with BABYMETAL.

Though since her last show in February of 2020, she has joined a new agency and it appears that she is no longer a part of team BABYMETAL.

She also opened her very own fan club later in 2020.
