Guide On Buying Old BABYMETAL Singles

It’s no secret that BABYMETAL merchandise tends to be very limited and exclusive, as well as pricy. However, one thing that a lot of people don’t know is that most of their old physical singles are actually still being produced, and are sold at the same cost as they were originally. Not only that, but they can be acquired internationally for a similar price as in Japan!

Do note I am talking about the Regular editions, not the various Limited and Special editions that were also sold at the time of release. These have other special goodies, but are mostly wanted for their unique artwork. I will talk about these in a future post, for now let’s focus on the regular versions which can still be bought.

Note: before people ask, I am not including the Doki Doki ☆ Morning singles, as they are not available anymore, so they will be discussed in a post with the limited edition singles.

BABYMETAL released 4 physical singles between 2012 and 2013. The first was a collaboration with Kiba of Akiba, which included one single from each artist, as well as one cover from each artist, of a song of the other artist. The other 3 each include the main feature song, a B-side song, and both of those as instrumental versions. All of these are listed below.

Ijime, Dame, Zettai

There are 7 (yes, 7!) editions of IDZ, all with unique covers. Below is the regular one, then there are 3 Limited Edition’s, which switch the Instrumental songs for a special version of IDZ, and each one includes a different DVD. Then there are 3 Special Editions, which include Headbanger!! (Night of 15 mix).

Megitsune

Again, like IDZ they had lots of versions of Megitsune (in this case 1 more!). Below is the regular tracklist, the Limited Edition includes Onedari Daisakusen instead of Akatsuki, and again each one with their own unique DVD. The special editions include Megitsune (TEKINA Mix), a remix made by Megitsune’s own creator, Yuyoyuppe.

Sadly, that was the last time they sold a physical single CD (some would say thankfully for our wallets!). Most will know that they have since sold digital singles, such as Road of Resistance, KARATE, Distortion, Starlight, and Elevator Girl. The good thing is that all of them came with their own artwork, which in my opinion is the coolest part.

Note: there haven’t been anymore single CD’s, but Distortion was sold as a black and a red vinyl in late 2018. There is still some stock in some places.
