BABYMETAL has announced refunds and a start time of 30 minutes ahead of time for the first 2 of the “10 BABYMETAL BUDOKAN” shows. This come after the Japanese government has declared a state of emergency for Tokyo and surrounding prefectures due to the rise of COVID-19 cases. Among the restrictions include events being restricted to half their capacity or up to 5,000 (whichever is lowest). Likewise, they are encouraged to close by 8 PM.

The start time changed from 7 PM to 6:30 PM in order to finish by 8 PM. They are also offering refunds to those that request them. So far, this is only for the January shows, not the 4 shows in February.

They also mention that the shows content will be changed from what was originally planned, though they do not mention what this entails.

Lastly, they are considering holding cinema screenings of these shows later on, as usual for their large shows.

They have decided not to cancel or postpone the shows, which has brought criticism from some fans. There are other groups performing at Budokan or similar sized venues that have not canceled their shows either, but several others have.
