As said in the show report, all of the Kami’s are new, something that hasn’t happened in years, probably since 2013, when the Kami was just starting.

Most of them are from Galactic Empire, who opened for BABYMETAL last year in Japan.

Full information on them below.

Shadow of Intent has a tour coming up in the US starting September 20th. So this should mean a change of drummer (at the very least) at some point.

I wanted to see the real band 10-11-19, now there may be subs?

hey anonymous, you have the best chance of seeing original band. they are streaming that show back to Japan. i don’t think the Japanese fan base would accept some Amerikami band.hope that’s the case.

I signed up for 5 shows. spent a ton on airfare etc. I will be hugely disappointed if don’t see original Kami band.

Replacing the entire band that IS Babymetal is absolutely terrible. Just ruined the upcoming shows for me. Management for this band just seems to think everyone is replaceable. Time to stop wasting time and money when you don’t even know what band you’re going to get from day to day.

Kami Band IS Babymetal? They are absolutely an integral part of the show and a full band change WILL cause me to rethink attending any of their American shows, but to discount the voice, Su-metal, and the infectious Moametal would suggest you are a fan of Kami Band, not Babymetal.

I’ve seriously never heard of either band, let alone the musicians. Part of BabyMetal’s appeal is the Kami Band. I seriously doubt that these people are of any close caliber as the Kami. Pointless to see BabyMetal anymore. What a huge disappointment.

The Kami Band needs Babymetal. Babymetal needs Kami Band. They NEED each other. Maybe that is the reason for the change? Perhaps management – or the girls – are unhappy that the backing band is becoming the stars of the show? I was planning a trip to Tokyo and was just waiting for Babymetal to announce their next large Arena show, preferably a Tokyo Dome show, and book my trip around that date. If the original Kami Band is not part of the lineup, my interest level will drop of substantially.

Since this show, all Japanese shows (except for the Music Station performance, which we know little about the Kami’s there) have been played by the “regular Japanese Kami Band” and the overseas shows by the American Kami Band. I’d think the Japanese would play in Asia as well, had the tour happened.

I say “regular Japanese Kami Band”, cause they aren’t the original Kami Band (far from it). There were many members before them. The Kami Band started in 2012 and Ohmura, Boh, Leda, Mikio, and Hideki started playing in 2013 (Isao started in 2015). But, they are the most known by now of course 🙂

I’d say it’s a bit of Koba doesn’t want people to keep expecting the same band or he will have people be angry/sad, like what happened with Yui, or what happened with the Kami Band itself from time to time. So that’s why he hid them behind masks and now rotates between Americans and Japanese Kami members (no mix as of yet, not counting LEGEND – METAL GALAXY). But, it’s also a bit of having a backup. Just like what he did with the Avengers (which has other reasons as well), he wants to have several backups in case anything happens. In 2018 he lost both Yui and Mikio. Other than the obvious changes brought by Yui being missing, I don’t doubt he had to get another guitarist, since Ohmura is busy all the time and he can’t just rely on Isao and Leda for those cases. That’s why Yusuke also made some appearances since then.

Budget concerns could also be a reason, as having less people to travel from far away helps reduce the budget (also less translators needed possibly).

Saw the SF show in oct. The US Kami band shredded !!! The solos are now in ‘Kagerou’ instead of ‘Awadama Fever’ though…I was just a little disappointed to not have seen the ‘Japanese’ players,( Boh and maybe Leda?)as this was my first BM show. It was however played PERFECTLY !!! Especially the live version of ‘The One’ to end the show, beautiful, simply beautiful !!! Thank you Su and Moa and Kami band !!! Rock on Forever !!! KV

From what I’ve heard so far? The American Kami Band is just as good as the Japanese Kami Band, and bring their own styles and their own flavor to the live shows, IMO. They’re good players too. I’d love to see the Japanese Kami Band return,of course, but as they say… ONLY THE FOX GOD KNOWS.

I only heard one show with the alternate Kami band and they lacked energy! Part of having a great backup band is solid, talented musicians who love the project. Once you have the main players especially a musical director then find subs that have the same level of musicianship and are not there just for a paycheck. Yes it’s about making a living but you have to give 110%. I hope management understands this and doesn’t mess up a good thing for extra money. So many bands under poor management fall away and never recover.
